THE BELVEDERE TORSO REAR is a study in graphite of the Plate 1, 55 drawing in the 19th Century Drawing Course by Charles Bargue. The same marble statue without arms or legs from 50 BC was a favorite reference model for Michelangelo as he created the super-human male bodies of masterpieces like David and Moses.
