PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG GIRL is a study in graphite of the black and white chalk drawing by the Rennaissance Artist, Verrochio, who was the teacher of Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo inherited from his teacher a fascination with complex and intricate hairstyles. What caught my attention first were the ends of the tightly wound braids around the crown of the girl’s head which looked like they were being devoured by snakes.
