PORTRAIT OF A TEENAGE BOY is a portrait study in graphite of Plate II, 12 from Charles Bargue’s Drawing Course. It is my version of a drawing of what was in all liklihood a self-portrait by the Rennaissance Artist, Fillipino Lippi. I like the blended layers of values that were used to model the face – a technique called a sfumato. I also like the slightly agitated facial expression conveying perfectly the antsy impatience of a teenage boy.
